Recruiting
Virginia Defense Force citizen soldiers are special people with special skills. Called to duty in times of disasters when the lives and property of fellow citizens are threatened, the full range of their professional skills are put to the test in answering the call of their neighbors in time of need.
VDF soldiers are expected to attend monthly drills, at least one Multi-Unit Training Activity (MUTA) per year, and to respond to emergencies when called. No other commitment is required. The Governor of Virginia is the VDF Commander-in-Chief. Therefore, VDF soldiers may only be deployed within the Commonwealth of Virginia and never for federal missions or combat missions. The VDF reports to the civilian authroities of the Commonwealth.
Currently in the Virginia Defense Force, there is a need for doctors, lawyers, nurses, journalists, finance officers, pilots (aircraft owners), information technology specialists, and many other professions. But whatever your skills, the Virginia State Defense Force needs you now. Take the first step and volunteer!
